FAQ

How do you get the Flesh Lily for Yu'er in Phantom Blade Zero?
Defeat Hua, Deadly Betrothed at the Flesh Lily Fields below the Valley Sha-Chi Tower — from the 1st Floor bell, circle behind the tower, drop through the opening, and slide down the wooden bridge. The Twin Flesh Lilies appear beside the pavilion only after she is dead; she also drops the Scarlet Wraithblade.
Where do you first meet Yu'er for the Flesh Lily quest?
At a campfire on the stream bank near the First Meeting with Yu'er bell in Weeping Creek Valley, early in Chapter 1's Against the Flow chapter. The tale accepts automatically during the meeting; ask her how to save her sick father to confirm it.
Is the Flesh Lily quest missable in Phantom Blade Zero?
Yes, twice over. Hand the flowers to Yu'er before advancing to the Village of Lu — keengamer and PowerPyx advise before beating Bai Chilian — or the lilies vanish from the fields. And keep the keepsake Yu'er returns; the Pangzhen home scene plays differently without it.
How do you finish Flesh Lily in Pangzhen?
Progress through Pangzhen until you defeat Chang Hong, the Thunder Spear at Ancestral Shrine Square, then enter Yu'er's home directly ahead and use the remaining Flesh Lily on her father to revive him. Completing it together with Apprentice Healer and A Healer's Mercy unlocks The Healer's Legacy achievement.

What Is Flesh Lily?

Flesh Lily is the first side quest most players meet in Phantom Blade Zero and one of the last to finish. The in-game log titles it “What Nourishes the Flawless Bloom?” and follows Yu’er, a young woman from Pangzhen whose father is dying of an unnamed sickness. A medicinal recipe calls for a rare flower — the Flesh Lily — and the tale sends you across three regions of Wulin to find, deliver, and finally use it.

Two things make it unusual: it cannot be tracked on the map, and it is doubly missable. Our missable side quests guide covers every cutoff in the game; this page walks the tale end to end.

Missable Window One: Before You Leave for the Village of Lu

The first deadline arrives earlier than most players expect. Advancing to the Village of Lu closes the find-and-deliver step — the Twin Flesh Lilies vanish from the fields, and Yu’er leaves the Crimson Forest Thieves’ Camp once it changes after the Bai Chilian fight. keengamer and PowerPyx phrase the cutoff as before defeating Bai Chilian, Lady of the Twin Serpents; clear the hand-in before the Crimson Forest’s final boss or the tale fails for good.

Step 1: Meet Yu’er by the Stream

Location: Weeping Creek Valley — stream bank near the First Meeting with Yu’er bell.

Early in Chapter 1, a cutscene plays at a campfire on the stream bank. Yu’er explains she came from Pangzhen searching for a cure; asking how to save her father starts the tale — PowerPyx notes it accepts automatically. The objective reads “Find the Flesh Lily for Yu’er” with no map marker, which is the game’s way of telling you the flower is off the beaten path. Do not confuse this with her later requests: the herb hunt at the Outpost is the separate Apprentice Healer tale, and treating the wounded thieves in the Crimson Forest is A Healer’s Mercy.

Step 2: Flesh Lily Fields and Hua, Deadly Betrothed

Location: below the Valley Sha-Chi Tower — Flesh Lily Fields arena and bell.

Push the main story to the Valley Sha-Chi Tower 1st Floor bell. Instead of climbing, circle around the back of the tower and drop through the opening behind it, then slide down the long wooden bridge into a hidden valley. Guides disagree on left versus right at the start, so hug the tower’s back wall and you will find the descent either way.

At the bottom waits Hua, Deadly Betrothed, an optional boss who is genuinely dangerous this early — a dance partner who punishes blind parries. If she is too much, clear the rest of the region, unlock more skills, and come back; the arena does not go anywhere. Her defeat drops the Scarlet Wraithblade, one of the best early weapons in the game (full breakdown on our Scarlet Wraithblade page).

Only after Hua falls do the Twin Flesh Lilies appear — about 17 m from the Flesh Lily Fields bell, beside the pavilion where she waited. Their card reads: “A pair of white blossoms blooming from the same stem, almost identical in form.” If the tale does not advance after the fight, check that you actually interacted with the flower pickup; the weapon drop does not auto-progress the quest.

Step 3: Hand One Flower to Yu’er at the Outpost

After you defeat Peng Meng, the Axemaster, Yu’er relocates to the Outpost, standing beside Forge near the bell. Hand her one of the two lilies — she keeps one for the medicine and presses the other back into your hands as a keepsake: “A white blossom in full bloom, nearly identical in form to the one given to Yu’er.” This completes the hand-in objective but not the tale.

Missable window two, the quiet one: keep that returned Flesh Lily. AllThingsHow’s missables report confirms the Pangzhen home scene plays out differently without it, and the keepsake has no obvious quest icon once the step completes — exactly the kind of item players sell without realizing it gates the finale’s best outcome.

Step 4: The Pangzhen Finale

Location: Pangzhen — Ancestral Shrine Square, then Yu’er’s home.

The tale stays dormant through the Crimson Forest, the Village of Lu, and into Pangzhen. Once the story reaches the Lion Dance Hall district and you defeat Chang Hong, the Thunder Spear at Ancestral Shrine Square — he also drops the Thunder Spear Phantom Edge — walk into the building directly ahead, Yu’er’s home. The final scene plays with her father: use the remaining Flesh Lily on the old man to revive him, and the tale completes.

The completion matters beyond the story beat. The Healer’s Legacy achievement requires all three of Yu’er’s tales — Flesh Lily, Apprentice Healer, and A Healer’s Mercy — and all three are independently missable, so trophy guides recommend wrapping the whole cluster before pushing deep into the Crimson Forest. For regional routing, see the Village of Lu walkthrough and the Phantom Edges list for Chang Hong’s Thunder Spear.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you fight Hua, Deadly Betrothed later if she is too hard now? Yes. The Flesh Lily Fields arena stays open, and most guides recommend returning after leveling through the valley or the Crimson Forest. The only deadline is the Village of Lu / Bai Chilian cutoff for the flower hand-in, not the fight itself.

What does the Flesh Lily quest reward? There is no weapon or accessory payoff — the reward is the completed tale, the revived father scene at its best version (with the keepsake), and progress toward The Healer’s Legacy achievement. The real material prize is Hua’s Scarlet Wraithblade on the way through.

Where does Yu’er go after the Outpost? She appears next at the Crimson Forest Thieves’ Camp for A Healer’s Mercy, then returns home to Pangzhen for the finale. Each appearance is a separate tale — finishing one does not auto-complete the others.

What happens if I reach the Village of Lu without the flowers? The find step closes, the Twin Flesh Lilies despawn from the fields, and the tale fails on that save. The keepsake scene and The Healer’s Legacy achievement would then require New Game Plus.
