FAQ

What bosses are on Mount Soulrend in Phantom Blade Zero?
The Crusher and the Saw midway through (dropping the Bonesaw), then the Soulrend Cliff gauntlet — Puppet Scavenger, Heartpiercer and Cavalrybane, Yubi and Yuding, Leng Tu Herald of the Veil, and finally Meng Hua, the Merciful Lady of the Blossom Veil. Zho Shang waits beyond at The Fallen Dream, dropping the Aureate.
Where is the point of no return on Mount Soulrend?
The Last Chance bell, just past The Crusher and the Saw. Resting there locks you into the final bosses until the credits; the game warns you through Inanis at the bell. Anything unfinished elsewhere must be done before this point.
How many collectibles are on Mount Soulrend?
PowerPyx logs 17 collectible locations: 8 bell-adjacent pickups and 6 Memory Flowers, with no challenge arenas. The named bells are Mountain God Temple, The Giant's Lair, The Last Chance, Soulrend Cliff and The Fallen Dream.
Does the Cui quest matter on Mount Soulrend?
Yes. Finishing Cui before fighting The Crusher and the Saw adds a scene and an extra reward for Lu. The completion step is the man sitting with a woman on a box in the wooden fenced area west of the Mountain God Temple bell.

Mount Soulrend is Phantom Blade Zero’s ninth and final region: a frozen climb from the Mountain God Temple to Soulrend Cliff, where the last three fights of the game run back-to-back. It is short — PowerPyx logs just 17 collectible locations across it — but it carries the heaviest stakes in the game: the last bell chain, the point of no return, and the Cui side quest’s payoff. This Mount Soulrend walkthrough covers the boss order, the missable reward, and what to finish before The Last Chance.

The Approach: Mountain God Temple and the Cui Payoff

The region opens at the Mountain God Temple bell on the climb up. Before you push on, sweep the temple grounds — this is the Cui questline’s finish line:

  • Cui (Complete). In the wooden fenced area west of the bell, a man sits with a woman on a box. Talk to them to close the quest — the full chain is in our Cui quest guide. Completing it before the region’s mid-boss adds a post-fight scene and an extra reward for Lu, so do not leave it for clean-up.
  • The temple approach also hides the Scrawny Leg and Fused with the Blight pickups, and the Infighting entry just before the next bell.
  • If you completed every prior quest, a scene with Spectral Blade plays south of the temple bell — one of the last character beats before the end.

The Giant’s Lair: The Crusher and the Saw

The path climbs through an icy cave to The Giant’s Lair bell, where the region’s only standalone boss waits:

  • The Crusher and the Saw — a required two-on-one brawl midway up the mountain. Beat them to claim the Bonesaw weapon (a Soul Tempering base — the Soul Tempering guide pairs it with the Craftsman’s Tool Kit found here). If Cui was already complete, you receive Lu’s reward immediately after the fight.
  • Lu Jieyuan stands near The Giant’s Lair bell: if you helped him earlier, he hands over the Baishan Headband, the tempering material for the Baishan Stormswords.
  • The Memory Flower of the Monster – 3. Mastermind sits in the icy cave northwest of the bell, and the Control entry unlocks on the climb out.

The Last Chance: The Point of No Return

The next bell is called The Last Chance for a reason. Resting and pushing past it locks you into the final boss sequence — you cannot leave the region until the credits roll (after which every area reopens for clean-up before you choose New Game+). Two things to verify before you touch it:

  1. The true-ending checklist. Inanis appears at this bell; if she says there is nothing more she can do to prepare you, the checklist is complete. Full requirements in the true ending guide — every purple-icon quest, both Crystal Puppet Eyes, and the mirror-realm chain.
  2. Secrets at the Heart of the Lake. This is the quest that fails if you enter the endgame with it incomplete, per the missable quests checklist.

Soulrend Cliff: Leng Tu to Meng Hua

Past The Last Chance, the Soulrend Cliff bell anchors the endgame gauntlet. The fights run as one continuous ascent, in this order (per Maxroll’s Soulrend Cliffs walkthrough):

  1. The Puppet Scavenger — the opening phase. Standing close and using Battleforged trivializes it.
  2. Heartpiercer and Cavalrybane, Elite Shadow Wardens — a two-on-one rematch; focus one down first.
  3. Yubi, No. 21 Swordfighter Puppet and Yuding, No. 12 Crescent Blade Puppet — dodge Yuding’s sideways jade slash exactly as you did in her Mandate Encampment fight.
  4. Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil — a Dusk-style summoner who barrages you with chaos fire and chaos balls. Full breakdown: Leng Tu.
  5. Meng Hua, the Merciful Lady of the Blossom Veil — the final boss. When she charges her world-ending ability, grab the dark fragments off the ground to counter it. Full breakdown: Meng Hua.

Meng Hua drops The Lady’s Fan weapon plus the Herald’s Lingering Threads and The Lady’s Crown Soul Tempering materials. If you met every true-ending requirement, a gold portal at the top of the cliff opens the exclusive final encounter that awards the With Heart and Blood Gold trophy.

The Fallen Dream: Zho Shang

Beyond Meng Hua waits The Fallen Dream bell and the last fight of the region: Zho Shang, who drops the Aureate weapon and two more tempering materials (the Broken Lóng Body is also found on the mountain). After the credits, the game returns you to free roam — every bell, Tale and collectible stays open until you opt into New Game+, so finish Mount Soulrend’s 17 locations at your own pace.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is anything on Mount Soulrend missable? No region items are missable, but the Cui reward for Lu is gated: it only appears if Cui was completed before The Crusher and the Saw. The true-ending extras are missable in the usual way — enter the gold portal unprepared and the exclusive encounter is gone for that run.

Can I return after the final boss? Yes. Once the credits end you can revisit every region, complete non-missable quests and collect anything left before starting NG+.

How long is Mount Soulrend? It is the game’s shortest region — a single climbing route of five named bells. Budget an evening including the gauntlet; the region holds no challenge arenas and only 6 Memory Flowers.
