FAQ

How do you get the Scarlet Wraithblade in Phantom Blade Zero?
From the Valley Sha-Chi Tower 1st Floor bell in Weeping Creek Valley, circle behind the tower, slide down the wooden bridge through the hole in the ground, and follow the candle-lined path left to Flesh Lily Fields. Defeat the optional boss Hua, Deadly Betrothed, and the weapon is her reward.
Where is the Flesh Lily for Yu'er's quest?
In the same arena. After beating Hua, pick up the Twin Flesh Lilies blooming at the base of the wedding altar, then fast travel to the Outpost bell and hand one to Yu'er to advance her healing questline.
Is the Scarlet Wraithblade missable?
The weapon itself has no confirmed lockout, but the Flesh Lily quest stage must be completed before defeating Bai Chilian in Crimson Forest, so clear Hua before leaving Weeping Creek Valley.
What does the Scarlet Wraithblade do?
Its Sha-Chi combos leave Red Spider Lilies on the ground that slow enemies and drain their Sha-Chi, then explode after three seconds. Its Rouge Bloomstorm Power Surge is an unblockable slash that blooms lilies across the field.

The Scarlet Wraithblade, Hua the Bride’s two-handed blade

Overview

The Scarlet Wraithblade is Phantom Blade Zero’s premier area-control weapon: a two-handed blade with a grotesque face grinning from the hilt, high shield-breaking power, and a kit that carpets the ground in exploding Red Spider Lilies. It is also the anchor of a classic one-trip errand — the optional boss who drops it guards the Twin Flesh Lilies for Yu’er’s healing questline, so a single detour earns you an A-tier weapon and advances a missable trophy.

The Hidden Route to Hua

Hua — called Hua, Deadly Betrothed by the guides and Hua, the Bride by her Steam achievement — is an optional boss in a cavern beneath the Valley Sha-Chi Tower, off the main path late in Weeping Creek Valley. The consensus route:

  1. Rest at the Valley Sha-Chi Tower 1st Floor bell (refill HP and gourd uses first).
  2. Circle around the right side of the tower to find a large hole in the ground with a wooden slide.
  3. Ride the slide down, clear the enemies at the bottom, then take the left path lined with red flowers and candles.
  4. Climb into the lily-filled clearing — a cutscene of a bride at a red-draped wedding altar plays, and the fight begins immediately.

The Flesh Lily Fields bell in the arena stays locked until Hua dies, so there is no ringing it and leaving. Note that some guides start this route from the Tower Summit bell instead; both paths converge on the same arena.

The Fight (and Why Not to Bring Bleed)

Hua is a Puppet, which means the Jagged Steel’s Bleed “has no effect on Puppets, Golden Bodies, or Phantom Bodies” — leave your bleed build at the bell. Her own lilies punish greed, so treat the fight as parry practice: dodge or parry her strings, stay out of the flowers she seeds across the arena, and respect the grab, which is her highest-damage punish. On the default Pathbreaker difficulty she fields roughly 21,000 HP, so this is a marathon, not a sprint. She is a genuine early-game wall, and worth it.

The Flesh Lily Tie-In: One Trip, Two Rewards

Do not leave the arena when the weapon card pops. The Twin Flesh Lilies bloom from the corpse at the base of the wedding altar where Hua stood — pick them up, ring the now-unlocked Flesh Lily Fields bell, and traverse back to the Outpost bell to give one to Yu’er. She insists you keep the second, which matters later.

This is the first stage of the Flesh Lily tale, one of three Yu’er questlines (with Apprentice Healer and A Healer’s Mercy) that combine into The Healer’s Legacy trophy. The critical timing: this stage must be finished before defeating Bai Chilian, Lady of the Twin Serpents in Crimson Forest — fail it and the trophy needs a reload or NG+. The questline’s second stage waits in Pangzhen, where the lily revives Yu’er’s father after the Chang Hong, the Thunder Spear fight. Bottom line: kill Hua before you exit the valley, and the region’s weapon and quest cleanup falls into place.

What the Blade Does

Sha-Chi and heavy combos leave Red Spider Lilies on the ground. Enemies standing in the flowers suffer reduced movement speed and continuous Sha-Chi drain; after three seconds the lilies explode for damage over a short period. The Rouge Bloomstorm Power Surge spends 1 Sha-Chi Essence on a single unblockable slash that blooms lilies across the field — a whole-screen zone of denial.

The trait tree leans into the garden: Scarlet Field expands lily coverage with manual detonation, Severed Vows grants an 8-second Heartless state with a finisher, and Netherlit Bloom charges a teleport slash. Soul Tempering with the Embroidered Shoes material grants Lingering Grudge: attacking enemies inside the lilies builds a Red Flower Gauge that detonates when full, while you and your allies inside the flowers enjoy reduced Sha-Chi consumption and increased healing.

Verdict

Keengamer ranks the Scarlet Wraithblade A tier for “area control, explosive spider lilies, Sha-Chi depletion” — and that understates the efficiency play. It is a strong two-handed answer to mob fights and shielded elites, and the trip that earns it also protects a missable trophy. See how it stacks up in the full weapons list, and where Hua sits among the game’s optional and mandatory bosses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I fight Hua later, after leaving Weeping Creek Valley? There is no confirmed lockout for the boss herself, but the Flesh Lily stage fails once Bai Chilian falls — so there is no practical reason to delay.

Is the Scarlet Wraithblade good against bosses? It shines against groups and Sha-Chi-dependent enemies. Against fast single bosses, slow combo finishers demand careful lily placement — the trade-off keengamer flags for its A-tier slot.

Does the weapon drop if I die after beating Hua? The weapon card is awarded on the kill; if you die before grabbing the Twin Flesh Lilies, they will still be at the altar when you return.
