Overview
Juggernaut is Phantom Blade Zero’s greatsword for patient players — a slow two-handed blade whose entire damage economy runs through the parry. The item card is blunt about it: “a vicious blade that once swept the streets of the town,” with high shield-breaking power and the ability to accumulate Red Edge for a powerful attack. It arrives late, in the Mountain of Imprisonment, which is why you will not find it on any early-game weapon list — this is a build-defining pickup for the back half of the campaign.

How to Get It: Bi Feng, Giant Saber Commander
Bi Feng is real, and he is not a rumor — the bronze trophy The Two Blade Masters (defeat Zhu Yuan and Commander Bi Feng) confirms him on the official list. In-game he appears as the Old Commander, waiting behind a fog door roughly twenty meters from the Commander’s Platform bell in the Mountain of Imprisonment. The fight doubles as the main step of the side quest The Broad Saber, which pays out Ritual Cauldron Fragment III alongside the blade.
Fittingly, Juggernaut’s Soul Temper material is the Restored Ritual Cauldron — the quest and the weapon are the same thread. See the Soul Tempering guide for how tempering works once Myst unlocks it in Pangzhen.
Reaching the Mountain
The Mountain of Imprisonment itself is gated: you need the repaired Illusory Pipa to disperse the Weeping Mistgate northeast of Meigu Lake (Polygon’s route guide), which means Yubi and Yan Qiansui must already be down. Bi Feng’s moveset is still community mapping in progress, but a Greatblade duel favors the very mechanic the weapon teaches — patient parries into heavy punishes — and a shield-breaking Phantom Edge such as the Iron Gauntlets is a sensible slot for the climb. Rest at the Commander’s Platform bell so retries are a short walk. His trophy pair-mate, Zhu Yuan, is a separate bronze-trophy target elsewhere in the campaign; both are tracked in all bosses.
The Red Edge Loop
Juggernaut’s base art, Crimson Wheel Slash, inverts how most weapons want you to play:
- Parry incoming attacks — each successful parry adds one stack of Red Edge.
- At maximum stacks, the blade visibly turns red.
- Press Heavy Attack to consume every stack in a single powerful slash.
The weapon therefore scales with your defense, not your aggression. Against bosses with long, readable strings, you are banking stacks the entire time they attack you; the guard break or the string’s end is when you get paid. The item card’s “high shield-breaking power” is the second half of the identity — Juggernaut breaks guards so the slash lands on an open enemy.
The Bandit-Slaying Rampage Power Surge (1 Sha-Chi Essence) is an unblockable flurry of blade-wave slashes that applies Bandit-Slayer Mark: marked enemies take increased damage and suffer increased Sha-Chi depletion. The trait tree deepens both halves — Blood-Fed Edge (level 5) powers up Crimson Wheel Slash if you take a hit mid-swing, Sunset-Stained Edge (level 10) raises its damage, Restless Wave (level 15) adds a charged blade wave that applies Bandit-Slayer Mark at range, and Annihilating Slash (level 25) lets you hold Heavy Attack to dump all Sha-Chi into an even bigger follow-up. The Tempering art, Unfading Sunset, stops Crimson Wheel Slash from consuming Red Edge against marked enemies — the build’s true infinite engine.
Is It Worth Using?
The honest verdict, and the reason this guide exists separately from the tier lists:
- Worth it if your defense is your offense. Keengamer places Juggernaut in A tier for parry-based damage and charged heavies, and specifically recommends Soft Snake Sword + Juggernaut as the defensive boss combination — the Snake deflects, Juggernaut banks, everything dies on the counter.
- Skip it if you play around uninterrupted combo strings. Two-handed recovery is the slowest in the game, and Red Edge does nothing for players who parry reluctantly. A lifesteal greatblade like the Outlaw Warblade forgives far more.
- The build logic in one line: Bandit-Slayer Mark raises both damage taken and Sha-Chi depletion, Red Edge cashes out on heavy punish, and Unfading Sunset keeps the stacks alive against marked targets — so every system pushes toward the same guard-break-and-execute loop that defines a high-Guard-Break build.
- Practical note: you get it in the Mountain of Imprisonment, hours past the point where builds settle. Leveling it from 1 to relevance costs real materials — budget via the Remnant Dust farming route before committing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Bi Feng a story boss? He sits behind a fog door tied to The Broad Saber side quest, so he is technically optional — but The Two Blade Masters trophy requires him.
Does blocking build Red Edge? No — parries specifically. Plain blocks do not stack it, per the Crimson Wheel Slash description.
Juggernaut or Whiteshadow from the same region? Whiteshadow builds Chill and freezes; Juggernaut converts parries into burst. They solve different matchups — see the full weapons list.
