Who Is Jade-Face?

Jade-Face is a Perfect Transcensions boss of the Mountain of Imprisonment, logged by wikily in the chapter Treason and Confinement and placed by Rock Paper Shotgun at number 49 of 61 in story order. His archive entry describes a Maskwalker who repeatedly taunts Soul along the mountain path, wearing a jade mask whose colors are gaudy and grotesque — feints and true attacks intertwining behind an eerie grin.

The entry also plants the narrative hook for everything that follows on this mountain: he was sent by Huangxing to monitor Soul’s movements, yet simply watched with amusement as Soul climbed from the foot of the mountain to its peak. His bizarre, unpredictable nature is unlike Huangxing’s other agents, and the archive wonders what role he really plays — ending on the tease that the battle in the shrine did not seem to defeat him completely. Perhaps that was the contingency he kept in reserve. Treat this fight as the overture to the Huangxing duels, not the finale.

Where to Find Jade-Face

  • Rest at The Lady’s Shrine bell on the Mountain of Imprisonment; death returns you there, so treat it as base camp for every attempt.
  • Walk to the big wooden door next to the bell and go through. The snowy court lies on the other side — wide and paved, split by a raised stone walkway, with stairs and lantern-hung buildings at the far end.
  • On your first visit a cutscene plays, then the boss bar “JADE-FACE” appears; on later attempts the bar shows as soon as you walk in.

AllThingsHow records him at level 23. Our Mountain of Imprisonment walkthrough covers the climb to the shrine, including the Shrine Gate Key route up the mountain.

Three Enemies Share the Snowy Court

This is a three-on-one, and the court’s layout is the fourth combatant. Per AllThingsHow’s fight record, Jade-Face carries the main bar at 139,680 HP and works at range with thrown ring blades, while a Gold Mask and an Iron Mask — each with a small health bar — press you at close quarters with long blades. Jade-Face uses the stairs and railings as launch points, and if both masks pin you against them, several strikes can connect one after another. The raised walkway and lantern stairs matter as much as any moveset: fight in the open middle, never with your back to the architecture.

Jade-Face’s Moveset and Counters

  • Ring blade throw — his bread and butter. The ring sails across the court on a low path with a green trail, timed to catch you while you are busy with a mask. Track the throw even mid-exchange; after it lands, the rings stay on the paving around you, so keep moving.
  • Leaping ring slam — from the stairs or railings he springs high, lifts the ring overhead, and descends onto you. Dodge on the descent, not the leap.
  • Blue shred burst — at close quarters, blue shreds erupt around Soul in a cloud and the screen blurs. Back out of the cloud; the visual noise is the tell.
  • Masked blade chains — the Gold Mask and Iron Mask advance between Jade-Face’s throws with long-blade strings. Guard or dodge each chain; never let them herd you toward the stairs.

How to Beat Jade-Face: Split Them Up

AllThingsHow’s survival math is blunt: from a full bar you last roughly 14 seconds on Pathbreaker and about 42 on Wayfarer if you stand in the blender. The fix is positioning, not reflexes.

Kill the masks first. Their bars are small, they hit hard, and they exist to distract you from the ring throws. Kite them away from Jade-Face toward the open middle of the court, take them down one at a time, and only then duel the ring-thrower alone. The fight changes completely once the court is a one-on-one.

Never stand between the masks and Jade-Face. That is the angle where a blade chain and a low ring throw arrive in the same heartbeat. Keep all three enemies in view so nothing hits you from behind.

Spend your Power Surge on the masks’ stagger breaks, not on Jade-Face’s main bar — cutting the headcount early shortens every later phase of the fight. If you keep dying anyway, the honest answer per AllThingsHow is gear: come back after upgrading your weapons, or drop to Wayfarer. The unblockable rules are unchanged from the rest of the game — our combat system guide covers the blue/red flash language if the court is your first real test of it.

Rewards: Seamless Death

Jade-Face does not hand over his weapon on the spot. Per AllThingsHow, when you move on from the fight a short death scene plays first, and the Seamless Death card arrives after it — a dual-wield pair of ring blades starting at 288 damage and 114 Guard Break. Your quest log confirms the way forward: Pillars of Kunlun updates to “Confront Huangxing inside the Shrine”, pointing you up the stairs at the far end of the same court, where the man who sent Jade-Face to watch you is waiting. Community stat trackers log a further 90,000 Remnant Dust and the Crude Radiant Heart accessory on the kill.

The Seamless Death’s homing flying rings, warp dodge, and unblockable Reaping Rings surge are covered in full on our Seamless Death weapon page — and if Jade-Face’s archive tease about surviving the shrine battle ever pays off, you may meet those rings again.
