FAQ

How do I enter the Mirage Estate in Phantom Blade Zero?
Complete The Four Serpent Houses: take the Red Serpent Tongue from the Crimson Forest house, the Black Serpent Fang from the Village of Lu house (both need the Flaming Mane to burn the brambles), combine the two Loong Emblem halves, defeat Heartpiercer at the White Serpent House on Meigu Lake for the Eye, then insert all three into the Green Serpent House door in Pangzhen.
What is the point of no return in Phantom Blade Zero?
Crossing the threshold into the Mirage Estate. Inanis warns you about unfinished business at the estate bridge; pushing past it can fail open purple-icon tales and locks several Crimson Forest bells. Bloodline Awakening's fifth Long Pillar is the one true-ending requirement finished inside.
Which bosses are in the Mirage Estate?
Yuding, No. 12 Crescent Blade Puppet at the Opera House approach, Qiu Feng the Crimson Boneblade inside the theater, Mo Yuan of the Bastion of Mo at the fifth Long Pillar, the fifth Gold-Masked One duel near Willow Pavilion, and Lei Dang, the Tiger Cannon at Perfect Vessel Pond.
Can I go back after entering the Mirage Estate?
Yes — fast travel stays open — but some requirements can still fail, and several Crimson Forest bells are disabled once you push past the warning. Sweep everything first; the warning is not decoration.

The red-lit passage behind the Green Serpent House door into the Mirage Estate, Phantom Blade Zero

The Mirage Estate is Phantom Blade Zero’s eighth region, hidden inside Pangzhen, and the game’s loudest line in the sand: everything before it can still be cleaned up, everything after it is decided. The estate itself is a compact combat gauntlet — three main-line bosses, the fifth and final Long Pillar, and the duel that earns the Tiger Cannon — but its real significance is what walking in costs you. This walkthrough covers the Serpent House door, the interior route, and exactly how the point of no return works. Checklist form: true ending guide; quest-by-quest cutoff list: missable side quests.

Opening the Door: The Four Serpent Houses

After Pangzhen’s main mission, the estate’s front gate is sealed by the Herald’s forces. The way in is the serpent door at the back of the Green Serpent House in the Pangzhen backstreet, and it demands three tokens:

  • Red Serpent Tongue — Red Serpent House, Crimson Forest. Northwest corner of the region. Burn the brambled shed doorway with the Flaming Mane and take the Tongue plus the Loong Emblem (yin) from the manor study.
  • Black Serpent Fang — Black Serpent House, Village of Lu. Burn the vine across the stairs past the bell yard. The Fang sits in the manor’s back room alongside the Loong Emblem (yang); the two halves combine automatically into the Loong Emblem key.
  • White Serpent Eye — White Serpent House, Meigu Lake. Sail northeast to the island dock (requires the Sha-Chi Powered Boat), open the Loong lock, and defeat Heartpiercer, Elite Shadow Warden in the courtyard for the Sundering Dual Axes. The Eye waits in the room beyond.

Insert Tongue, Fang, and Eye in any order at the Green Serpent door and a red-lit stair opens — the hidden passage into the estate. Community walkthroughs (GameSpot, AllThingsHow, Gamerant) all agree on one tip: the houses can be visited in any order, but do the Red house first so the combined emblem is ready when you reach the White house.

The Warning: How the Point of No Return Works

Two checkpoints guard the threshold, and both are blunt:

  1. Inanis at the estate bridge. If anything required for the true ending is still open, she stops you: “There’s still unfinished business. Return later.” Choosing “No turning back now. Forward it is!” pushes past. Per AllThingsHow’s endings guide, crossing also disables several Crimson Forest bells (Parting Mists, Mirrorwood Depths, Threadbound Great Tree, Burial Grounds, and the Sha-Chi Tower bells) — finish Crimson Forest tasks before the bridge.
  2. The door itself. GameSpot’s true ending reporting confirms the estate advances a late-story flag, and Inanis flags remaining gaps again at the last Bell before Mount Soulrend’s peak. If she says there is nothing more she can do, the checklist is complete.

You can still fast travel after entering — but per Keengamer, every unfinished pre-Mirage purple Tale locks. The one true-ending requirement completed inside is Bloodline Awakening’s fifth Long Pillar; Quick Hand Zhang’s last treasure is in here too. Do not sprint for the exit.

Interior Route: Rear Gate to Perfect Vessel Pond

The estate runs as a mostly linear gauntlet; the community route maps (PowerPyx, ShowGamer) agree on this order:

  1. Estate Rear Gate and gardens. First combat area; Yu’er’s Memory Flower “1. Struggle” sits southeast of the bell. Push through the Nuo Mask altar, Back Hill, and Shaded Bamboo Path.
  2. Training Grounds — Yuding, No. 12, Crescent Blade Puppet. Drops the Crescent Blade two-hander and counts toward The Four Freed trophy alongside Yuzan, Yubi, and Yucong. A Memory Flower for Triple Threat appears after the kill, and the northern section hides the Opera Ticket on an altar.
  3. Opera House — Qiu Feng, the Crimson Boneblade. Ticket in hand, enter the theater, fight through the scripted encounters, and defeat Qiu Feng. The Mourning Hall altar beyond holds the second Triple Threat Memory Flower.
  4. Covered Corridor and the fifth Long Pillar. Past the Corridor bell’s circular walkway plaza, grapple across with the Hunter’s Chain Sickle to the final Long Pillar. Mo Yuan, Leader of the Bastion of Mo guards it; the win awards the Bastion of Mo Mask and, with the other four pillars done, completes Bloodline Awakening. The third Memory Flower waits in Leng Tu’s Study nearby.
  5. Willow Pavilion. The fifth Gold-Masked One duel — the last of the recurring Long Pillar boss’s appearances — plays out near the pavilion before the finale.
  6. Perfect Vessel Pond — Lei Dang, the Tiger Cannon. The estate’s capstone. Lei Dang drops the Tiger Cannon Phantom Edge, which destroys weakened walls across earlier regions; use the post-fight window to sweep Crimson Forest’s Sha-Chi Tower and any missed material rooms before the story moves on. Full fight guide: Lei Dang.

What to Finish Before Entering

The pre-entry sweep, in priority order:

  • Every purple-icon tale — the spine of the true ending: Whence the Weeping, Deep in the Valley, the Crimson Manor chain, the Illusory Pipa repair, Sha-Chi Powered Boat, Pillars of Kunlun, Allure of Vanity, and Secrets at the Heart of the Lake.
  • All four Acolyte Masks and the Blizzard Blademaster behind the Four Guardians’ Mirror — the hidden-realm fight, per the secret bosses curation.
  • Both Crystal Puppet Eyes — Yang from the Puppet Scavenger duo, Yin from the Mandate chain.
  • Quick Hand Zhang’s relics up to his final hideout, and the four earlier Long Pillars if you want Bloodline Awakening to complete at the fifth.

When Inanis stops warning you, the estate is just a very good fight gauntlet — walk in and enjoy it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is anything in the Mirage Estate missable? The bosses and Tiger Cannon are unmissable once inside. What you can miss is the pre-entry window: unfinished purple tales fail, and the Tiger Cannon’s breakable-wall sweep is easiest done before Mount Soulrend.

Where is the fifth Long Pillar exactly? Past the Covered Corridor bell — take the right-hand path, look down for the grapple point, and cross with the Hunter’s Chain Sickle.

Does entering the estate lock the Crimson Forest forever? It disables several Crimson Forest bells once you push past Inanis, and the region’s landscape changes — Yucong, No. 34 spawns there for the Triple Threat finale. Finish Crimson Forest business first.
